Becca & Tom are just the loveliest people, and to be a small part of their day was an honour. B&T put their all into this wedding. With the help of family, friends, and a great venue team at Ponden Mills, they designed a wedding that truly represented them and their journey as a couple. Everything had a personal touch and they did a lot of the work themselves, and their efforts truly paid off resulting in the most magical day.
From the first meeting B&T had a really clear idea for the florals, which meant it was such a collaborative process and we could really get down into the detail of stem styles and options. The overall theme was pinks, reds and burgundies, with lots of foliage and different textures throughout. Very moody valentine kind of feel. Becca really got into learning about the different varieties of roses and other flowers, and we managed to find the perfect focal flower to base everything around, which was the gorgeous Black Baccara rose. For anyone who hasn’t come across it before, Black Baccara is the perfect burgundy red rose with a velvety texture. Definitely look it up if it’s within your colour palette – you’ll fall head over heels.
From there we started comparing stationery samples and velvet ribbon samples with different blooms to match everything up perfectly. That’s when we started bringing in things like Movie Star rose for a pop of pink, Faith rose and a spray rose called Lydia for that lighter/duskier pink tone, and eventually incorporating skimmia, leucadendron, genista, astilbe and waxflower for the smaller, dotty/wildflower style textures. The end result included around seven different varieties of rose and eight varieties of foliage!
