As many of you know, I run my floristry business alongside a part time role at a charity, but last year I spent most of the year working there full time to provide more support. This coupled with a busy year at The Raven Rose and deciding to buy a house in the middle of it, made for a very hectic 2019.
At the end of September, when I had a weeks gap in between weddings, I decided it was time to take a look at my 2020 calendar and get a trip booked in ASAP! I managed to find a three week gap in between Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day (yay!) so knew this was my window of opportunity for a much needed holiday. A quick message to the Australian fam to check schedules and a couple of hours later my flights were booked.
Two glorious weeks in Sydney and Melbourne, plus a little bit of time off either side to relax after the Valentine’s Day rush and get over the jet lag before jumping back into work upon my return – perfection!
I got my flights in the sale (just £650 return – thank you Emirates!) so decided to add on a couple of little treats. The first was a trip to my local beauty salon for a pedicure, manicure and facial. Not sure who I think I am! The second was booking into a a lounge at Manchester airport. My flight was 8.50am and it was lovely to be able to watch planes taking off while enjoying a delicious breakfast and a prosecco or two. The lounge access included fast pass through security which meant I could enjoy the full two hours.
The in-flight entertainment included a full Disney section so I was all set up for the 24 hour journey. Traveling alone can sometimes feel a bit unusual but if you set yourself up with some films, playlists and end up with a friendly neighbour then it’s usually fine.
I had the most amazing couple of weeks seeing friends and family. I was able to spend some quality time with my cousin who was still on break from university, which was absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to get back again soon. I hope you enjoy these pictures from my well-deserved break…
